nursing with style [guest post]

I'm so happy friend & stylist Meaghan from Little Lime Dress agreed to do this post. I am currently on the prowl for nursing gear and also for items upon return to work. One thing I know about Meaghan is she always delivers, and this is nothing short. I can surely benefit from this post - thank you Meaghan for working your magic! Keeping up with friends is hard enough, but when you add distance into the mix, it is all too easy for our hectic lives to get in the way. Which is why when Caren created this blog, I knew I was going to enjoy it.  Not only is it so trendy and of-the-moment, but how cool to be able to keep up with the musings of a friend  than through her personal blog which, at the same time, is a super cool archive for her child to one day  look back on and enjoy. Anyway, when my dear friend Caren contacted me to do a guest post on her blog,  See You In November I was flattered. For those of you who don't know, in the blogging world being as...

dear fashion,

dear fashion, i miss you. you haven't left, but it's not the same. i mean, i have lots of maternity gear that is working and doing the trick,  but seriously i miss a small shopping binge. i went on a gift card binge a couple weeks ago. i tend to save these guys up for a nice binge  then it's like shopping without shedding a dime. love. it was hard passing all the mannequins with regular clothes on,  but it's just one fall i'll have to miss. i did have some luck at hnm   tho .  typically i always have luck there, but i have been on a shopping hiatus due to growing a nugget and budgetary restraints;  i haven't bothered to have luck there or anywhere... i was so happy to find that some regular joe clothes in hnm can also work for preggos. this isn't a sultry style post as i'm not feeling all that particularly sexy,  and lately i have enjoyed taking more pictures than being in them... but it's still fun to dress it all up. it's amazing what ...

a fine line.

i follow a blog. i actually follow too many. but today i share from mrkate . i always find interesting tidbits on here, but today i'd like to see what everyone else has to say about a particular post as it's what mrkate calls "a fine line" and i think i agree with that. take a gander to this mrkate post  -  photo via   i'd love to know what you think. below are my own comments, but i'd recommend checking the site first. here are my comments. what do you think? agreed. such a fine line. while i can't help but recognize her natural beauty, i too felt uncomfortable knowing her age and then seeing some of the outfits and poses. true we don't know how she will turn out and she may be enjoying all this attention, but is it teaching her she is only useful in her outer beauty? is this helping her self-esteem or hindering in the long run? who's to tell, but time? if it were my 10 year old daughter or kid sister it sure would make me ill to think so...

unexpected expense

i had a plan. it was to wear my empire waisted shirts and dresses through pregnancy. Capital FAIL. what i didn't realize is that i need to account for more than just a growing tummy. yesterday i had to try on 3 shirts before i could find a fit for work. it seems my flat chested shirts are no longer work-able since i have grown a  couple cup sizes - -  (thanks mary for the bras) i guess i didn't account for a) how small i was and how great that was and  b) that i would actually not be able to fit into these shirts and dresses. bummer. so down to basement closet the go. to sit. and wait.  a few of my fateful shirts that can't be worn. tear. i have been pretty blessed in the fact that i have a decent amount of dresses  that are still working ok and was able to borrow some clothes from a high school pal and my sister.  i think i am pretty set for Fall. thank you Kathy + Lea working on switching closets... quite a task. (however if anyone has any maternity...

Don't let me forget where I came from...

no, no. I'm not talking about Cincinnati. I am talking about the world of fashion + style. I lived in nyc for 3 years & worked in for a company called GIII Apparel Group where I learned how to dress haha! It was great fun and I don't want a growing tum to stop me from feeling good about myself. I feel good when I like what I wear and have fun putting together sassy or creative outfits and I don't want my changing body to stop me. So I am hoping you all will keep me accountable, by not letting me hide in over sized jeans and a sweatshirt every day. I have not figured out how I will get cute maternity clothes when the time comes, but I am a master net worker so hopefully I can get some donations or borrow-age from the mama's out there that are short and not currently using their clothes :) I have been inspired to stay stylish from some other baby mama blogs: dearbaby & bohobabybump & bleubirdvintage & thislittleplace to name a few. So feel free...
