a trip to chi.Land

this past weekend we mini vanned it (yes, mini vanned) up to chicago.
mom, dad, john, lea, pockets + myself - almost a packed mini.


although we didn't stay in the heart of the city it was nice to explore a new area.

like any get away - it was too short.
but, nothing short of a good time. 


1. my cuz. ryan. he got married. he's the bomb.

3. ryan, the new hubby married mandy. she's so lovely!
4. the mood was chill and had the duo's vibe all over it. look at these flores.
5. traditional italian wedding treats - almonds and wishes for the new couple.

3. a time to nurse.
4. one of many smiles and giggles.
5. hubs on our walk.
6. a preggie shot. growing by the minute.


1. 1918 bowling alley that replaced the sunday kickball game due to the weather.
2. colored balls.
3. piss poor bowling scores. if you look close enough you can see i bowled a 41.
in my defense - i was in a dress and pregnant and moving awkwardly.
not in my defense - im not a good bowler, but 41 is really low for me.
4. city signs.
5/6. chocolate gelato and spumoni ice cream from spacca napoli. mmmmmm. 

Other Notes:
i wish wish wish i took more pics of people this trip.
i saw 2 of my besties, jess and kate, this trip and have not a single pic. 
i saw some family i hardly see and failed to snap appropriately.
typical family trips tho - i get distracted and there is so much going on.

it was so nice to get a way.
catch up with friends even for a couple of hours.
see those family i don't see enough and just have some laughs.

What a blast to celebrate Ryan and Mandy's big day. Ryan playing with the kids who are throwing plastic rings at him as he DJs. Yep, life doesn't change. Mandy looking hip and hot. And who knew a wrap-up bowling event would be so cool.
Wonderful to spend time in a different space with family. It was a laid back weekend and we had a blast.
Best was Josie at the lake. What a swimmmer. You can't top a child, sand and water.

That night I watched the innocence both fade and transmute.  As life goes it didn't go as I expected or dare I say "planned." waiting for our arrival

over and over again, this theme rolls onward  in my life right now. i feel aligned, mostly positive, gracious and overall pretty happy.  there's been multiple times i wanted to sit and write this piece, but then there's this part of me that says "but what if things didn't work out as you said?" "what if you go broke?" Honestly, "it" was always on my radar. Ever have that feeling of interest or yearn and you don't really know why? I am notorious for going outside the box so it wouldn't be all that shocking for us to choose to homeschool in 2015. In time of reflection I think back on when Stella was under two. I sat down with a group of interested homeschoolers for a Q and A, but it was still an anomaly then and most definitely not popular or always understood. And still true in some areas today, but growing fast. Not a shock though, I never felt like I could do it. I never felt strong enough in my abilities or knowledge to school my own kids and I don't think John had very much interest. Looking back I would certainly want that support, but thing is it would have gone just fine in the sense that it would be all we ever knew. No regrets though. Our school path has led me to some incredible friendships and pushpins of growth opportunities that would not have presented themselves ...
