a tribute to the popas

It's time to say H.f.D to the main men in my life.

dad with hair.
dad and mom pre-kids.
doesn't he look like he should be a member of the Beatles?
dad's a drummer and always wanted to be a "rockstar"
i think he looks like one here, and honestly
he is a rockstar, a rockstar dad.

vince. my dad. with little peanut.

the "Gold Stars" soccer team.
dad picked up and coached both my sister and i without knowing much about the sport.
BUT
he made sure everyone had a good time and felt good about the sport.

dad @ my side, dad with the mic.

the thing is i don't know how to give my dad enough adjectives.
he is the kindest, most generous, caring man.
he adores his daughters, granddaughter and wife.
he takes on taking care of everyone.
you call. he answers.
you don't call. he answers.
he lives and loves passionately and whole-heartedly.
he enjoys giving gifts-
to EVERYONE and anyone.
he is the one that takes the homeless person out for a cup of soup.

not only is my dad one of the most giving humans i know
he is so ridiculously talented in other areas:
writing, speaking (the perfect wedding toast, dad!), music and quite the woodworker
(stay tuned for a post on his madd skills).
he has a presence - and is the most sincere comforter.
he feels for you and would give anything for you to feel better.
i don't think my dad knows how good of a man he is.
i hope after he reads this that he gets it.
thank you dad.
for being you.
our baby is so lucky to call you grandpa
(or pawpaw like josie says).

i adore my grandpas. they couldn't be more different,
but i am blessed to have a great relationship with both.
both are examples of true hard work and quiet wisdom
as they provided for their 4 kids over the years and share a lifetime of knowledge.

gpa m - smiling!
he doesn't always smile for pictures and this is quite the capture.
gpa m spent many a times picking me up from high school when i had an ever changing schedule and boom he'd be there waiting with the classics on the radio as we cruised home. it was our time.

gpa m with all the grandkids.
i think this shot is somewhat hilarious as no one is looking at the same spot with an array of expressions.
although gpa m is sometimes the quiet type, one thing's for sure, his grandkids know his love.
gpa m is the type of gpa that says "back in my day..." type statements and a favorite "it's hell to get old!"

gpa k with karen on his shoulders.
i share a lot of the same hobbies with gpa k.
music. art. athletics.
gpa k plays piano by ear. (yes by ear). he is quite an artist and made his whole room in the basement for water coloring and what not. he also, like gma k are still rocking the tennis shoes on the court!

a more recent shot. happy almost 60th anniversary!!
what a duo!

a god pop.
uncle al and i @ my first communion.
i know, i look really cool. nothing like my tomboy looking hair cut and a puffy-painted shirt.
a tomboy child of the 80s i was...

a more human shot of uncle al and me. thank goodness i changed the hair!
uncle al and i share a special bond.
he has worked in fashion and design all his life and we share that passion along with an appreciation for city life. god pop made sure i was well taken care of while i lived in nyc as he would visit on business quite a bit. example: i was sleeping on an air mattress my first couple weeks in the city and he was visiting, well that didn't fly with him -
in a matter of a few hours we had my room decked!
we've had some really good times on his visits to NYC.

 this is bob.
my father in law.
bob with baby john while bob was finishing school (masters?)
can you tell he was a tired pop with school work to do!?
even no smiles, i still love this oldie shot.

bob with first grandbaby hazel!
he surely gets a kick out of his grandbaby and knows how to have a good time!
we are thankful for all the support and love in our beginning years.

B.i.L. bry
this is my brother in law bryan. he is more than an in law tho, he has always felt like a brother.
john really lucked out to marry into the family that his best friend already married into.
nice planning fellas.

they say there is a special bond with daddies and daughters, well this guy has it.
pockets adores her daddy and bry adores his little pocket.
he is a stay at home dad and works very hard taking care of pockets
and keeping the show running during the day.
staying at home with a child all day IS really hard work. SAHD's really deserve more credit.
pockets is lucky to have a parent home with her 24/7.
he truly is a great daddy to little miss.

Such sweet men in your life, and in mine too.
WE really have been blessed, and although no two are similar at all, they all have fabulous gifts that make our lives very blessed.
Love to the Men out there.
Cheers on your day.
