a two month check.

ok stella,
you know what is awesome?
the fact that right before i am writing this you babbled yourself to sleep.
just as i wrote about how you fight sleep, leave it to you to try something new.
and.i.dont.mind.it.

today you had your 2 month check up.
it's more like 10 weeks, but hey so we are a little behind...

you got your first shot today and i have to admit
you shocked me.
i was prepared for screams and furrowed brows and a tomato colored face.
you took the oral vac fine, but were a little confused
and the stick in the thigh you gave a pouty lipped frown and a little yelp,
but it was quick and you seemed ok.
you took it like a champ.

maybe it's because you have so much extra chunk that you didn't need to wince?!

you happened to be extremely tired because i made the appointment
before you decided your nap schedule. yep.
this check up was pretty much the time you sleep.
i'm not sure if the vac's made you sleepy, but you slept
in your car seat when we got home
in the wrap shortly after
and on my lap for a cat nap while i did really important things
like
pinterest, online bill pays and finally catching up on emails after 3 days of no internet.
(you'll never know a world without it and i don't remember how life was without it)

and here you are again today, sleeping in the crib
swaddled, paci-less and quiet.
i put you in awake and hoped you'd drift off and keep the paci in.
instead you lost the paci and just bobbled your head about in search for it.
then you decided you were going to babble.
and you did just that for what seemed like a long time.
you babbled your way to dream land.
that is a first.

10 week stats:
you are 12 lbs 5 oz and 24 inches long.
a whole 2 feet, still running in the 90th % for height.
we shall see...
i have to admit i thought you'd be heavier because you just keep chunking up
and i notice a new roll on you every time i bathe you.
i'm becoming really fond of these rolls, but i have to remember to wash them all!
you have two solid chins and i love them both!

nothing too special from the doc.
you are a healthy, normal gal. kudos.
that's all i asked for.

you are obsessed with your hands.
you found them a long time ago, but now you obsess over them.
like, look at them every time you lay on your back.

you get your fists up and just stare in amazement.
who needs rattles?

you like the play yard, but even when inspecting the colors and items,
you seem to kick back to those hands.
whatever keeps you happy love.

i stuck some keys in your hand the other day to see if you'd be enthused.
you seemed to like it ok, but i think you really continued looking at your hands
but since the keys were attached to your grip they got a looksie too.

you are still sleeping in your 3-4 hour blocks, but on occasion you will do 5, maybe 6.
but it's sure not consistent by any means.
it still amazes me how i can function on such broken sleep, but i guess the body adapts.
most of the time you will give a 5 hour stretch with feedings in the eve,
but the sleep times don't correspond.
bummer.

you are surely smiling more and more.
winning us over time and again.
... as if you'd have to try.

you enjoy being talked to and being read to.
favorite book seems to be hush little baby.
this very well could be because it is a song in a book. my guess anyway.
you like when i sing the cannibal king, my favorite things and of course
pocket's happy day song.

the classical music i have in you room relaxes you when fighting that sleep.
you know, just your typical canon in D, jesu joy, and some josh groban tunes.
you sure are going to have quite the variety of listens.

how's that for an update.
keep up the good work.

mama loves.
