tuesday nights.

tuesdays with are for moma.

if i told you that i day goes by when i don't want to go straight home to be with my bird after work, i'd be lying. we play. it's fun.

but on tuesday i have my yoga.
and with my yoga comes my yogis.
and with the yogis comes nicki, our warrior leader.

over two years ago, mel asked me to go to this yoga class-
donation only. westside.
and at that time I was living a little closer than I do now.
so i thought, ok, i'll give it a go.
and i loved it. i only knew mel, but still loved it.
and though living a little farther, i'm still going.

it quickly became a weekly ritual.
random room in a church in rain, outside for sun.
if you do yoga, you'll know that doing yoga outside under a tree is heavenly.

over the years I've gained some pretty great relationships.
while i don't see most of them, but once a week and don't get to chat,
but before or after class, it's still the type of crew you know you can call upon.

this is no ordinary class.
this is a class that cancels class for the group to attend a prayer service for a family member.
that brings meals to post partum momas.
that don't believe in TMI.
that share in the ups and downs of relationships and parenting.
that laugh, cry, and may on occasion fart during class.
that the judgment stays at the door.
that's what yoga is all about right?!

it's just you and your mat
leave the judging and do your best practice
for that day
for that moment
don't compare
don't push
just do what you can do and when all else fails
just stay rooted and grounded.

thank you to our warrior woman teacher, nicki, for sharing your practice.
what a gift you have and what a gift you are.
you inspire me to keep practicing and to become more and more rooted and grounded.

happy birthday yogi!
namaste.

shameless plug. the morning of my wedding, i hired nicki for a personal yoga session. besides the fact that it was on a hotel rooftop and she brought some music, it was glorious and set the tone for the day. even if you are a beginner yogi i highly recommend looking into doing a personal session. it's well worth it on so many levels.
